Bright Ideas For Tennis - Help fund the Indoor Bubble
24 HOUR TENNIS MARATHON & SKYDIVE
Eight Cheslyn Hay Players will compete as part of the 24 hour Tennis marathon with Great British Tennis Stars, held at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton on Saturday 23rd February. Both the skydive and 24-hour tennis marathon events are run on behalf of the ‘Bright Ideas for Tennis’ charity with all funds going towards Cheslyn Hay
Cheslyn Hay are using the event as a chance to raise funds for an Indoor Tennis Bubble to allow Tennis to be played all-year round.
Ash Taylor will also be skydiving on Friday 1st March.
Tennis Players from Cheslyn Hay will represent the West Midlands against Great Britain internationals next month to raise funds for an indoor Tennis Bubble.
Eight of Cheslyn Hay Players will compete as part of the 24 hour Tennis marathon, held at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton on Friday 22nd February.
Those volunteering to take part include Kim Williams and Claire Bailey who only first picked up a racket as a beginner at Cheslyn Hay in 2017. Also, seventeen-year-old James Clark who attended the first Junior session at Cheslyn Hay in 2012 and now plays in the Mens First Team. Also joining them are Jayne Ball, Lombe Mwansa, Ben Smith, Dave Smith and Thom Lilley. Ash Taylor is completing a skydive on March 1st.
Amongst the Tennis players will be GB International Fed Cup player, Naomi Cavaday, and 2016 Wimbledon sensation, Marcus Willis whose career highlight includes playing Roger Federer in a famous match on Centre Court.
Naomi and Marcus will be supported in their efforts by 9 other Tennis Venues from across the UK, and 12 other GB Davis Cup and Fed Cup stars.
Cheslyn Hay are using the event to raise funds for an Indoor Tennis Bubble to allow Tennis to be played all-year round for community usage at Cheslyn Hay Leisure Centre.
“We are delighted to be selected by GB Davis Cup player Danny Sapsford who visited the venue in September to be part of a such as special event.” said Chris Perrin, Head Coach at Cheslyn Hay. “The fundraising will help us to create a new facility to a enhance a community – focused club. Through being able to play all year round, this will attract more beginners to join us and try the sport and increase the number of competitive players enjoying the game.”
